How to Read Your eBay Listing Analytics

Impressions, views, click-through and conversion: what each number in Prelo's eBay Analytics means, and a simple way to tell which listings need work.

Which of your listings are buyers actually looking at? This tutorial walks through the eBay Analytics page in Prelo: where its numbers come from and how to read them. The shop in the video uses example data.

Where to find it

Analytics is in the sidebar under Insights. The page is called eBay Analytics. The numbers come from eBay's own traffic report for your listings, each time you open the page. Choose the last 7, 30, 60 or 90 days.

The four numbers

  • Impressions: how many times your listings appeared in eBay search results.
  • Views: how many times someone opened a listing. The small figure is click-through rate, views out of impressions. It turns green at 2% and red below 0.5%.
  • Sales: orders. The small figure is conversion, how many views turned into a sale.
  • Revenue: what those orders came to.

Traffic sources shows where views came from: eBay search, your store, direct, and off eBay. Top performing listings ranks your ten most-viewed listings, with impressions, views, click-through, conversion and sales for each.

A rough way to read it

  • Lots of impressions, few views: buyers see it in search and don't click. Look at the first photo, the title and the price.
  • Lots of views, no sales: they click and don't buy. Look at the price, the details and the shipping.
  • Few views, but they convert: the listing works; it needs more eyes, not a rewrite.

Listings and Sales tabs

The Listings tab has every published listing with the same numbers; click one to open it in Prelo. Listings with no impressions at all are worth a look too: buyers aren't finding them, so check the category and item specifics first.

The Sales tab has revenue, orders, average order and conversion for the period, plus recent orders.

If everything reads zero, eBay may not be sharing traffic data for your account yet. The page tells you, with a link to switch on Seller Hub on eBay.
