AI eBay Descriptions That Don't Sound Like AI

Most AI listings read like an advert. Here's how Prelo writes descriptions the way an experienced reseller would, and the settings that control them.

Most AI-written listings read like an advert: stunning, exquisite, perfect for any home. It sounds busy, and it tells a buyer very little about the item. This tutorial shows how Prelo writes descriptions instead, using a real item: a gold-dipped Hawaiian fern and orchid by Flora-Hawaii.

Before and after

An older version of Prelo described this piece as "stunning handcrafted art… elegantly encased… perfect for display in living rooms, offices or galleries."

The current version, same item and same photos:

This is a handcrafted wall art piece by Flora-Hawaii, featuring a Hawaiian fern and Oncidium orchid encased in 24K gold.

The rules Prelo's AI follows

We rewrote the instructions the AI follows. It's told to write like an experienced reseller, not an ad: plain, factual and specific.

  1. What it is. It opens with the maker, the item type, and the era if it's known.
  2. The facts a buyer checks. Dimensions if they're visible, materials, colour, what's included and any markings.
  3. Honest condition. Visible wear, flaws or missing parts are named.
  4. No hype. Words like exquisite, stunning, unique and timeless are out, and so are lines about where to display it or who would love it.

It keeps to short paragraphs or short lines, and it doesn't repeat the title.

Your settings

Under Settings → AI Settings:

  • Description length. Medium is the default, about 90–150 words. Short is about 40–80, and Long about 180–260.
  • Title style. Titles are capped at eBay's 80 characters. Descriptive is the default; pick SEO Optimized for keyword-rich titles, or Concise for short ones.

Sizes only come from a tag Prelo can read in your photos, never from how something looks. Item specifics are only filled when there's evidence, and the rest is left for you to confirm.

It's still your listing

Read the description and change anything on the Description tab before you publish. Drafts made before this change keep their old text. To rewrite one, open it in the editor and press Re-analyze. That uses a credit and can replace the title, description and price, so check them again afterwards.
