How to Fix Dark Photos for eBay (Free, Original Kept)
Shot an item at night and the photo came out dim? Fix it in Prelo with Clean up photo, fine-tune it with five dials, or clean up every new upload. Free, no AI, and your original is kept.
Kitchen lights at night make flat, dim photos. Prelo can fix that for free, without changing the item. This guide covers three ways: Clean up photo, the Adjust dials, and clean-up on upload. The shop in the video uses example data.
Clean up photo
Open the item and pick the dark photo. Under it is Clean up photo. It straightens the photo, balances brightness and contrast, and sharpens. It never changes the item or its colours.
Press it and you see the original and the cleaned-up version side by side. This isn't AI: nothing is generated or replaced. It's free and uses no credits.
The list underneath says what changed, for example balanced brightness and contrast, brightened a dim photo, and sharpened. "Brightened" only appears when the photo really is dim. Tap either image to see it full size before you decide.
Adjust it yourself
Want more control? Press Adjust. Start from the cleaned-up version or from the original. There are five dials:
- Brightness
- Contrast
- Sharpness
- Saturation
- Warmth
Then rotate left, rotate right, and reset. Saturation and warmth change colours, and Prelo warns you under the dials: make sure the item still looks accurate, so the buyer gets the colour they saw.
Move a dial and the result is labelled Your version. Press Keep to save it. Revert throws the preview away, and nothing is saved.
Your original is kept
Keep saves a cleaned copy. Your original is never overwritten, and you can flip between Cleaned up and Original on the photo. The cleaned-up photo is the one used when you publish.
Changed your mind? Undo cleanup, in the photo's menu, asks once and then goes back to the original.
Under your photos, a line counts how many are cleaned up. Clean up photo shows on any photo that hasn't been cleaned yet, so you can work through the dim ones the same way.
Clean up every new upload
On Upload, under the drop zone, tick Clean up photos automatically. It brightens dim photos and sharpens them after they upload. It's off until you tick it, and then it stays on.
It only affects new uploads, and it runs the automatic clean-up, not your dial settings. Photos you uploaded earlier are left as they are, so clean those one at a time.
